Things I love: Watermelon, tequila, mint, and being the girl who brings booze as her dish to pass ?? Did you slave for hours over a complicated side dish for your last party? Chances are, some people didn’t even know you were the one who made it. Sorry… just keepin’ it real. On the other hand, if you’re the chick who walks in the door with a tray of tequila shots, you just made a lotttttt of new friends. It’s like Cheers all of a sudden, ? everybodyyy knows your nameee ? Why not spend half of the time in the kitchen making something that will be twice as popular with the crowd? These shooters are boozy enough to liven up the party and refreshing enough for a hot summer day. ☀️ Not to mention, super pretty looking! ? #InstaWorthy Give em a shot ?
Watermelon Tequila Shooters- Serves 15+
750 ML Silver Tequila (I suggest mid-price-range for this. I used Lunazul)
One Seedless Watermelon
One Bag of Limes
One Package of Mint
Medium Length Skewers
Sea Salt
First, cut the watermelon into one-inch cubes. Portion the cubes into ziploc bags (the bigger the bags, the better). Pour an equal amount of tequila into each bag until the bottle is gone. Shake slightly to combine. Store in the refrigerator overnight or up to 24 hours. If possible, it’s a good idea to flip the bags halfway through to ensure all pieces are equally saturated.
Once watermelon is soaked, pour excess liquid through a fine mesh strainer into a jar and set aside. *This extra tequila is infused with watermelon and is SO good, make sure you keep it!* Next, chop limes into wedges. I found that cutting each lime into eight pieces worked well. You will need one wedge per shot.
Place watermelon cubes onto a tray and stick a skewer into the middle of each. Next, pick mint leaves off of the stems and slide one leaf onto each skewer. Finish the shooter with a lime wedge, making sure the rind is facing down towards the watermelon. Top with a generous amount of sea salt.
In case you need a little tutorial on how to take these: Chew the watermelon and mint leaf in one bite. Once you’ve swallowed that, finish by biting into the lime. Then yell, TEQUILA! ?? Okay.. that last part is optional, but encouraged. ??
This is probably the most foolproof recipe ever. Seriously guys, just dump a bunch of booze into some fruit and poke it with a stick. You got this ??
A couple of notes:
- If you’re bringing these to a party, make sure to label them! Being the girl who brings a little fun for the adults is cool, being the girl who accidentally served their children tequila shots is not-so-cool. ? They could easily look like some sort of fruit salad if there wasn’t a label nearby, so play it safe.
- As I stressed before, keep the extra tequila! Just store it in a jar or bottle in the refrigerator. I like to make a simple cocktail with 2 ounces watermelon tequila, a squirt of lime, and club soda.
- These are boozy! That’s why I included the lime on the skewer. It really is like taking a tequila shot. So, don’t get too carried away! Or maybe do, hey…that’s your call. Who am I to judge? ? But you’ve been warned!
One tequila, two tequila, three tequila, more! These will for sure be a hit. If you try them out, please hashtag #347Cheers. ? Let me know if you have any questions at all! ? Or funny stories about what happened after you served them, those are definitely welcomed ?
