Does everyone remember my vintage themed 25th birthday celebration back in April?! If not, you can check out the post and catch up. That night while my girls and I were procrastinating getting dressed for the bars, Melissa joked: “Let’s just stay in and have a slumber party instead!”. Fast forward 8 months and the idea totally stuck… we threw Meliss a cute and cozy “No Boys Allowed” party for her 26th birthday and it was so much fun! 🎉 What could be better than eating junk food, watching chick flicks, and dancing in your pajamas with your favorite girls. I’m here to share the details on our night and give some tips on how to throw your very own adult sleepover! Do you have New Years plans yet? If not, this would be the perfect last-minute, low-key way to ring in 2018 🍾 Champagne and footie pajamas for the win!
DECOR
My personal favorite part of party planning! Adding some themed decorations to your party will make it feel like more of an “event” and set the tone for the night right when your chicks walk into the room.
We decided to stick to a color scheme of pink, green, red, and white to compliment the Christmas decor that was already up, but also add a girly touch.
I made signs with fun sayings such as “Sippin on Jingle Juice” and “Pop it Like it’s Hot” to label food and drinks. I finished them off with frames from Dollar Tree (so much of this party decor is from the dollar store!) Think of song lyrics, movie quotes, food puns, etc.
The most popular decoration was definitely our holographic backdrop and “NO BOYS ALLOWED” balloons. Setting up a photo area like this always goes over well at parties. Especially an all girl event… #PicOrItDidntHappen
For party favors, I DIYed matching sleep masks for the girls. All it takes is elastic, felt, hot glue, and what ever embellishments you dream up! If you’re doing this for a birthday party like we were, make sure to do something different for the birthday girl’s mask so that she stands out!
I hunted down a TON of pillows and blankets that coordinated with our theme to give the room a cozy feel. Some were from home, others were from thrift stores, and many were from guests! These are also functional for later in the night while you lounge around.
FOOD
One of the best parts about spending the night in is being able to snack all night!
I put together a “junk food bar” with a variety of chips and candy for us to pick at.
We made homemade pizzas for dinner with a ton of different topping to choose from! Turn the music up and dance around the kitchen while you make them, that was one of the most fun parts of our night!
Make a signature drink that fits your theme. Because our party was slightly holiday themed, we decided to try out the “Jingle Juice” recipe that has been so popular this season. It was so good and worked out perfectly to make in bulk and keep in a big punch bowl. We also stocked up on beer, wine, and champagne so that guests had options.
Don’t forget about the most important meal of the day- brunch! 🍩 In the morning we sat around drinking mimosas and eating bagels while we laughed about good times from night before. I also put together this quick and easy cake for Meliss by stacking a dozen donuts and sticking some candles in them.
Activities- The fun part!
Make sure to stock up on games! Some crowd favorites during our night were “Speak Out” and “Catch Phrase”.
Watch a Chick Flick- Classics like Bring it On, Mean Girls, Spice World, and The Lizzie Mcguire Movie are sure to bring you back to your glory days. We also looked up a drinking game to play while watching Mean Girls, note- whoever gets “drink whenever there is a 3-way call” will end up tipsy 😂🍻
Spa Treatments- We opted to do face masks and finished them off by using warm towels (kept in a crock pot). DIY manicures would be another fun idea!
Doesn’t this sound like a blast? I seriously can’t wait to have another one with my girls ASAP. It was such a fun way for us to celebrate our favorite chick, Meliss! ❤️💖💚
As I mentioned, it would be perfect for New Years Eve this weekend, and I could also see it being a super fun bachelorette party idea! 👯 Let’s just throw sleepovers for every occasion, I’ll take any excuse to buy cute new PJs. 💁🏻
